Site Visit To American Eagle In Babine Region of British Columbia, Canada
I recently completed a whirlwind site visit to American Eagle Gold's camp near Smithers, BC
On July 4th, 2024 I had the pleasure of visiting American Eagle Gold’s NAK Copper-Gold Porphyry Project in the Babine Region of British Columbia, Canada. NAK is a roughly one hour drive and short barge trip from Smithers, BC. However, we chartered two helicopters for a group of 10 from Smithers in what proved to be a roughly 30 minute helicopter ride.
Here are some pics I snapped from the helicopter:
Jaw dropping nature scenery for the entire ride
The Belle and Grand Isle Copper Mines were in production throughout the 1970s before being shuttered in 1982 due to depressed copper prices. The mines are on care & maintenance and owned by Glencore Canada.
The history of “Copper Island” is fascinating and these deposits have some notable similarities and key differences to AE’s NAK Project.
More than a mile high on our way to NAK.
My first takeaways from the NAK visit:
Excellent location for a potential future mining operation with barge right to camp and first world town of Smithers in driving distance.
Very clean and modern camp.
Top notch drilling contractor (ITL) with excellent production (80-90 meters per day, slowing to 15-20 meters per day once the holes get very deep).
The American Eagle geologists and staff were in good spirits (perhaps due to the best weather of the summer).
Some excitement about the first 3 holes of this year’s program, the copper-bearing porphyry outcrop discovery in the IP Embayment Zone, and the potential of hole 24-22.
My sense is that AE will continue working to fill in the gap area between the North and South Zones for the next month or so. Meanwhile, more fieldwork and IP surveying will occur in the IP Embayment Zone, with the potential for a rig to be moved over to begin drill-testing the IP Embayment Zone in August.
There was definitely some excitement about the potential of hole 24-22 (furthest west step-out to date for American Eagle at NAK). At the time of my visit the hole was still in the conglomerate layer, above the target zone.

In my interview with AE Technical Advisor Charlie Greig, he mentioned that he would be happy to just continue focusing on connecting the North and South Zones, and then stepping out to the north from hole 23-12.
Overall, I was happy with my visit to NAK and I have confidence in this company to continue doing their very best to unveil the full potential of the ore body at NAK.

Looks like a great visit - perfect weather. Impressed with Brandons bornite core pictures.
